Engineering Department-Cherry HIll

The Cherry Hill NJ Department of Engineering provides for the development and project management of the Township’s most critical annual Capital Improvement Program, the Road Maintenance Program (RMP). The RMP is a comprehensive planning tool used by the Department to organize the road maintenance effort and maximize the Capital budget for infrastructure improvements. Over the last few years, the Township has provided for funds of approximately $2,000,000/year to support the program. By completing all tasks in-house, the Department is able to minimize soft costs for project development and inspection, in-turn providing additional funds for actual construction.

The Engineering Department also services the Township by providing design and implementation of small to medium roadway, storm and sanitary Capital Improvement projects. All inspections relative to roadway, storm, sanitary sewer and most recreation projects are performed by in-house employees. Inspections for all Capital Improvement projects as well as the site plans and subdivisions approved by the Planning or Zoning Board are completed by Department personnel. Open space management, green acres purchasing, and land acquisitions are managed by key personnel.

The department also issues and performs inspections for right of way permits. These permits are required any time work is being done within the Township’s right of way, 10 feet back from where the curb meets the street.
