City-Clerks Office

The Kingston City Clerk's Office is located in Kingston NY and serves the residents of Ulster County.  Marriage Licenses are $40 and are issued M-F 9am - 4pm.  Please Note, there is a 24-hour waiting period, and both individuals must be present.  Both individuals must bring: birth certificate (hospital birth certificates and photo copies are not acceptable), photo identification, social security number, and all divorce papers and/or death certificates from each previous marriage, where applicable. Call for additional information and requirements.

Copies of Marriage Licenses are $10 (if originally registered in Kingston City Clerk's Office). Requests by mail must be made in a letter and include: name of groom, maiden name of bride, date of original marriage, reason for request, a copy of photo identification and a stamped, self-addressed envelope.


Genealogy Transcripts are available for a fee of $22.00 per transcript.  Records begin in 1881.  Please include name of groom, maiden name of bride , date of marriage and a copy of a photo identification.  If requesting copy by mail, please include a stamped, self-addressed envelope.

Dog Licenses are $14.50 for unspayed/unneutered dogs, $7.50 for spayed/neutered dogs. Copy of current rabies certificate is required as well as copy of spay/neuter certificate, where applicable.
