Palmyra Borough- Refuse Recycling

The Palmyra Borough Refuse and Recycling Center is located in Palmyra PA.

Palmyra Borough has been publicly collecting refuse by Borough staff since 1947 for all residential customers and for approximately 80 businesses.  Collection includes everything except grass clippings, tires, appliances (white goods), hazardous waste, pesticides/herbicides, and motor oil/lubricants.

Recycling began in the Borough in 2001, as mandated by PA Act 101. Over the years, the Borough has received several awards for Recycling Achievement from the County Solid Waste Authority.

Refuse is collected weekly. All garbage and refuse shall be stored in plastic or metal, watertight containers, no larger than 33 gallon capacity, with a weight limit of 45 pounds per can/bag, with tight fitting covers and handles. Plastic bags may be used for collection purposes only and not for outside storage.

Recycling is collected weekly. Recycling will be collected from Borough recycling containers only and should be placed out for collection at the same time and place as refuse. Additional recycling containers can be obtained at the Borough office at a fee of $13.00.
