Cornwall Historical Society

Cornwall Historical Society

Founded in 1999, the Cornwall Historical Society in Cornwall-on-Hudson NY has made considerable progress, gaining nearly 150 members and establishing a headquarters and museum in the Cornwall Town Hall, thanks to the cooperation of the Supervisor and the Town Board.

The Society has a three-fold purpose: to acquaint the residents of Cornwall with our rich cultural heritage; to identify and help preserve worthy old buildings in the community; and to encourage the donation of historical items to Cornwall and provide for their proper storage and opportunity for public inspection. We are not at present able to do genealogy and property deed research.  The Orange County Genealogy Society and the Cornwall Town Clerk's Office are suggested as possible sources of help in these areas.

Our museum in Town Hall is an avenue to display the historic items that we have acquired and provide a meeting place for those interested in acquiring a first-hand look at Cornwall’s storied past.
