The STOP-DWI Program seeks to reduce the incidence of drunk and/or drugged driving deaths and personal injury crashes. The program is funded with fines paid by those convicted of DWI/DWAI/DWAID. No tax dollars are used.
STOP-DWI funds a variety of initiatives, including:
Two assistant district attorneys
One senior probation officer
Provides ignition interlock device program services
Equipment for police agencies
Public relations and information
Task Force patrols
Magistrates data collection
DWI Impact Panel
The DWI Impact Panel seeks to reduce the recidivist rate of those driving drunk or drugged. It also gives the victims an outlet for the pain they have endured and the ability to reach out to offenders in hopes they will not repeat.
