Planning and zoning matters in the Town of Gardiner are overseen by two appointed boards: the Planning Board and the Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA). Both boards meet in person at Town Hall and by Zoom
The Planning Board is supported by a professional planning consultant. Gardiner does not employ a full-time town planner or planning department.
The Building Inspector also serves as the Code Enforcement Officer and provides guidance to applicants on how the Town’s Zoning Local Law may apply to their projects.
The Zoning Board of Appeals hears and decides appeals of zoning decisions. Its main role is to interpret the zoning law and determine whether to grant variances.
