Allegheny County Department of Court Records Civil / Family Division is located in Pittsburgh, PA.

On January 7, 2008, Allegheny County voters approved the consolidation of the Prothonotary, Clerk of Courts and Register of Wills. The Department of Court Records was created as result of the consolidation and consists of the Divisions of Civil/Family, Criminal and Wills/Orphans’ Court.

Although the word “Prothonotary” is no longer used in Allegheny County, you may still see references to it in other counties in Pennsylvania.

Divisions
The new divisions of the Department of Court Records are:

Civil/Family Division (formerly the Prothonotary)
Criminal Division (formerly the Clerk of Courts)
Wills/Orphans' Court Division (formerly the Register of Wills)

Mission
The mission of the Department of Court Records (DCR) is to be the receiver and custodian of all filings for the divisions of the Court of Common Pleas of Allegheny County in an accurate, timely, and efficient manner.
