Palmyra Area Middle School

Palmyra Area Middle School

Palmyra Area Middle School puts students first through its dedication to the middle school concept. Sixth through eighth graders are each assigned to a team to provide the support and cooperative approach necessary for success. Through this system of a team of students sharing the same major subject area teachers, students benefit from an interdisciplinary approach to their studies as well as from the relationships developed from working so closely together with the same group of students and teachers. Furthermore, full inclusion ensures that all students reap the benefits of the middle school's offerings.

Academics continue to be the core of the middle school's strong program. In addition to receiving instruction in academic areas from skilled and dedicated teachers, middle school students gain from a variety of additional opportunities. Students are able to explore foreign languages, continue their studies in art and music, and build on computer skills through the use of two computer labs in the school. In addition to the computer labs, students work in the technology education program with computer-based modules that provide learning experiences from aerodynamics to robotics.  Another unique opportunity for middle school students is the Outdoor Education Program where seventh graders participate in a week-long experience at Camp Swatara with hands-on studies of environmental and life science.

Beyond academics, the middle school provides a variety of activities and support for students. A range of student clubs and student government and interscholastic sports give students the opportunity to further develop their interests and skills beyond the classroom. At the middle school level, a strong PTO continues to help parents to play an active role at school to benefit both students and teachers.
