Kingston J. Watson Bailey Middle School

J. Watson Bailey Middle School is a middle school serving Kingston NY students in Kingston City School District.

The staff of J. Watson Bailey Middle School recognizes that the unique needs of young adolescents  in grades 6 through 8 can be met best  in a student-centered middle school setting. The overall purpose of a middle school is to address the educational, developmental, and social needs that emerge in this transitional period.  An effective  middle school program provides a supportive and flexible environment in which  students have opportunities to develop skills and explore a variety of learning experiences while making the transition from elementary to high school. In keeping with this philosophy, J. Watson Bailey Middle School will establish and provide a core curriculum of language arts, math, science, social studies and languages other than English supplemented by connections classes in which students discover and extend their interests and abilities.
Interdisciplinary teams are the heart of our middle school.  These teams, staffed by teachers who teach different subjects but the same group of students, meet regularly during their daily common planning period to address such topics as student and parent/guardian concerns, field trips, student growth and progress, transferable skills across multiple subjects and instructional strategies.
