Rondout Valley Kerhonkson Elementary School

Kerhonkson Elementary School is an elementary school serving  Kerhonkson NY students in Rondout Valley Central School District.

In 1925, two third grade students led a small parade from town for the dedication of its new school, the Kerhonkson Union Free School.  The school, other than the business part of town, was the whole and part of the town’s existence.  It was the connector for all of those that lived here.  The early graduates of the school chose the blue and white colors and the Flying Goose logo that are still used today.  They named their yearbook The Council Fires which is still used in the high school.  I guess you could say that good ideas never fade away.
Although the name has slightly changed, the importance of the school as the center of Kerhonkson has not.  Over the years, there have been many changes but not the
dedication of the staff or the pride that we all feel as we walk through the front doors.
The community and staff of Kerhonkson join together to form a family that supports the education and social/emotional growth of all students.  Kerhonkson Elementary School still stands strong, 85 years later.
