Onteora Central School District

Onteora Central School District

This year, there are several noteworthy changes to our District. As most know, in September, both the Woodstock and Phoenicia Schools will be primary schools for students in grades kindergarten through grade 3, and Bennett will be an intermediate school for students in grades 3 through 6.

The summer has been both busy and productive. Administrators and teachers have been actively engaged in professional development and planning in the areas of the common core curriculum, annual professional performance reviews for principals and teachers, data-driven instruction, collaborative teaching, Project Based Learning, Response to Intervention, and grade level team meetings.

As for our building facilities, the moving due to reconfiguration is about 70% complete. Teachers who have moved from one school to another or one room to another will be coming in during the month of August to set up their classrooms and may contact their building principal to determine the best date to get their rooms ready for school.

The Board of Education has accepted the bid on the Asbestos Abatement throughout the district; these projects are anticipated to be completed before school begins. Also, there will soon be a new and improved phone system in all of the schools. This project, that began a year ago with the Onteora Middle School and Onteora High School, is being expanded to the elementary schools. If you are trying to reach your school and find no answer please call Central Administration at 657-6383 and someone will help you. Please be patient while our phone system is being installed.
